What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a time-honored healing practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), used for over 2,500 years. It involves the precise insertion of fine, sterile needles at specific anatomical points to modulate physiological functions, stimulate the body’s self-regulatory mechanisms, and support the management of chronic conditions, homeostatic balance, and overall health. Historically, Chinese medicine has emphasized the prevention of illness. In fact, in its early practice, physicians were compensated only when their patients remained well. This preventative philosophy continues today, with seasonal attunements strongly recommended to support balance and help prevent the onset of chronic conditions.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
Modern research suggests that acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous system, increasing blood circulation, and triggering the body’s natural pain-relieving chemicals (endorphins). It also helps regulate hormones, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation.
From a Western medical perspective, acupuncture:
✔ Stimulates the central nervous system, promoting healing responses
✔ Reduces stress hormones, helping with anxiety and mood disorders
✔ Improves circulation and oxygen flow, reducing pain and inflammation
✔ Supports the immune system, making it beneficial for chronic conditions

Is acupuncture safe?
Yes! Acupuncture is performed using sterile, single-use needles. It is a natural and drug-free therapy with very few side effects.
Can I combine acupuncture with other treatments?
Absolutely! Acupuncture can be safely used alongside conventional medicine, physical therapy, and other holistic approaches.
